Spring Lake Golf Club came into being when Long Island potato farmers Herman, Fred and Charles Jurgens teamed up with golf course designer/builder Charles Martin. Together they transformed 180 wooded acres in Middle Island, New York into a golfer's paradise. Spring Lake opened to the public in 1967 and has impressed guests ever since with its park-like beauty and world-class quality.
Spring Lake is home to two meticulously-maintained courses that provide and enjoyable experience for all golfers. The Thunderbird is an 18-hole course with meandering fairways and large undulating greens. From the Championship tees, it is an impressive 7, 048 yards long, offering players an honest challenge as well as the opportunity to use every club in their bag. The Sandpiper is a par-36, 9-hole course situated alongside a serene lake framed by majestic Weeping Willows that sway in the breeze. Spring Lake is sure to please novice as well as expert golfers.
